There's something for everyone in the Trinity Alps. Whether you're a nature lover, patron of the arts, a history buff or looking for some retail therapy, you can find your favorites and soon-to-be favorites here.

Go shopping and antiquing: There are two great antique shops in town, and plenty of other fun shopping including My Revival Boutique, Tammie’s (new-and-used) Books, Gold Rush Jewelers, Mountain Goats Kids, Up North Confectionery & Mercantile, Mountain Market, Olson’s Stoneware, and Main Street Shoes.

Go whitewater rafting, kayaking or tubing: Available during the warmer summer months just a few miles west with both Bigfoot Rafting and Six Rivers.

Take a step through Trinity County's history at Jake Jackson Museum & Blacksmith. The Museum is definitely worth exploring, and one of the best of its kind. The blacksmiths have classes during the year as well as “hammer-ins” for experienced blacksmiths and those who enjoy observing this vanishing art.

Dining: Several great restaurants are within easy walking distance of the hotel including Cafe’ on Main, the Trinity County Brewing Company, Mamma Llama’s, The Nugget, and Up North Confectionery. Tangle Blue Saloon at the other end of town is famous for its pizza. And check out our local wines from Alpen Cellars!

Do not miss the Joss House while you are here. This is a historic Taoist temple built during the Gold Rush that is still an active place of worship today, It is now a state park open for tours Thursday-Sunday.

Visit the last saloon to survive from Gold Rush days, ‘The New Yorker’ is just down the street, or mosey on over to the Diggin’s across the street. During the Gold Rush, there were 27 saloons just on Main Street!

Great live entertainment is offered on some weekends at the Trinity County Brewery and at Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center.

Hike or bike some of the most glorious trails anywhere. Nature is our most precious resource, and the Trinity Alps is paradise untouched. We know how fortunate we are to live so close to it.

Take your camera and binoculars on a nature, bird-watching, or wildflower walk. Speaking of binoculars, the stars on a clear night are absolutely spectacular!

Go for a swim in the river one of our mountain streams during warmer weather. Check out the rope swing on the Trinity River!

Go fishing (Steelhead, Bass, Salmon, Trout) and hunting (Blacktail Deer, duck, quail) when in season. You can get licenses and other necessities at CVS at the other end of town. Holiday Market next to CVS is a good source for ice and other necessities too.

Go gold panning in one of our beautiful mountain streams. You never know…Nuggets are still found!

In the winter you can go cross country skiing or snowshoeing in the Trinity Alps. The same trails used for hiking and biking in warmer weather, make for a great winter trek.

Check out our fun community events such as the unbelievable old-fashioned Fourth of July, “Autumn in the Alps Festivals” celebrated during the entire month of October, and “Mountain Magic Christmas” which starts the day after Thanksgiving when the entire town dresses itself for an old-fashioned Christmas.
